DELTAWRX is assisting the City of Lynchburg with the planning, procurement, contract negotiations and implementation of a new CAD/RMS solution.

Spanning approximately 50 square miles, Lynchburg is home to more than 80,000 full-time residents and a daytime population often exceeding 250,000. Public safety services in the City are provided by the City of Lynchburg Emergency Services, Fire and Police Departments.

The Department of Emergency Services (DES) provides emergency call taking and dispatching services. DES is authorized for 28 full-time staff, with four to five personnel assigned to perform the dual roles of call taking and dispatching first responders. In 2021, DES received more than 60,000 9-1-1 calls, which generated nearly 75,000 calls for service.

DES and the police and fire departments are currently using a CentralSquare CAD and RMS solution originally implemented in 1998, as well as CryWolf, Lucity and other ancillary applications to support operations. The public safety applications are supported by dedicated DES IT staff, while system hardware, network, internet, GIS and other infrastructure are provided and supported by the City and City IT staff.

DELTAWRX conducted a needs assessment and developed functional specifications for inclusion in an RFP. The RFP has been released and the City is awaiting proposal responses. DELTAWRX will continue to assist the City with the evaluation, contract negotiations and implementation phases of the project.
